Why you need a bathroom designer for your next bathroom renovation Are you thinking about a new bathroom design or a full bathroom renovation? Chances are, you’ve been looking online for new bathroom ideas and inspiration. And why wouldn’t you? Social media channels such as Pinterest and Instagram are a great way to get some bathroom design inspiration and discover the latest bathroom design trends! However, we’ve noticed this can also cause a few issues for homeowners and its why we usually always recommend hiring a bathroom designer for any bathroom renovation. The biggest issue we have come across is that the overwhelming amount of bathroom inspiration online leads people to believe they can easily design their own bathroom. However, what many people don’t realise until further down the line is that bathrooms are a lot more complex than they seem. Secondly, many people seem to believe that the beautiful designs they see online are unattainable or cost too much. Here at Kallums, we believe anything is possible and can tailor your new bathroom design to meet your budget. Below, we unpack all the reasons why you should consider using a professional bathroom designer for your next bathroom renovation. Using a Bathroom Designer for your London Bathroom Renovation What’s the best thing about hiring a bathroom designer? There are many advantages to hiring a bathroom designer, but the biggest advantage is their knowledge and expertise. Many people underestimate the complexity of designing a bathroom and try to take on the task themselves. There are many technical considerations with any bathroom and some bathrooms are more complex than others.  Trying to design a new bathroom without factoring in all the technical aspects can cause many problems and may result in your design being impossible to achieve. Ultimately causing a lot of stress and potentially wasting time and money depending how far into the bathroom renovation you were. That’s why we sincerely believe that the key to a great bathroom is to have it designed by a professional. The perfect bathroom should not only look great, but also offer excellent functionality that has been designed to suit your lifestyle and meets your individual or family needs. Designing a bathroom that ticks all the boxes requires a qualified, highly skilled, professional bathroom designer. Even though many people have a rough idea of what they would like for their new bathroom design, it can be difficult putting pen to paper and drawing out the plan. Whereas a bathroom designer can do all of this for you and use their expertise to recommend a bathroom design that is achievable and will produce high quality results. Top 3 small bathroom tips: The best way to save space in your small bathroom

Top 3 small bathroom tips: The best way to save space in your small bathroom 13 April 2025 Feel like you are constantly comprising on storage in your small bathroom? Or have you been dreaming of a luxurious walk-in shower and not sure you can fit it into your restricted space? Remodelling a new bathroom can be difficult to navigate at the best of times, and small bathrooms even more so. With less room to play with, it is vital to plan your layout, décor and storage.  Bathrooms can often seem like they can never have enough storage space. As well as being functional, they often also serve as relaxing retreats and pampering spaces in your home. It’s important to create a small bathroom where you can feel ready for the day in the morning and calm in the evening. By implementing clever storage ideas, modern layouts and design secrets, it’s easy to make your bathroom, cloakroom or shower room the ideal small bathroom space. Try our tiny bathroom hacks and achieve the luxurious, streamlined and clutter free bespoke bathroom of your dreams. Great bathroom Ideas for small spaces Large bathrooms are a luxury in London, however we believe compact bathrooms can be just as beautiful and spa-like. We have lots of experience bringing out the full potential in even the smallest of cloakroom designs. 1) Select a wall hung vanity unit to make the most of floor space Luxurious Small Bathroom En-suite design Wall hung vanity units installed onto your wall are ideal for making your space feel larger and less boxed in. Their clever design permits the eye to quickly scan the floor – this means it makes it appear bigger. Floating vanity units are compact and streamlined, so won’t dominate your smaller bathroom which makes them handy for luxury small bathroom designs. We suggest opting for a vanity with lots of storage built in for towels and accessories. You can also choose a basin that rests elegantly on top. As a bonus, they are often easier to clean too as they are more accessible. 2) Include a false wall shelf in your design Small bathroom and cloakroom remodel in Barnes At first glance this may seem like a foolish idea to add more building materials when trying to save space, however if you decide to go ahead with a half-height false wall you will receive two positive outcomes.  Including this idea in your small bathroom design not only means you can hide any ugly pipes from your toilet plumbing, but you can also construct a super handy shelf above it! You could even choose to make a statement of it but choosing some striking tiles or hanging some favourite artwork above. We suggest opting for a vanity with lots of storage built in for towels and accessories. You can also choose a basin that rests elegantly on top. As a bonus, they are often easier to clean too as they are more accessible. 3) “Zone” your bathroom Extraordinary Small Cloakroom Design Often used in other open plan areas of the home, defining zones is perfect when your goal is to create the illusion of more space. The method of zoning helps to make areas feel separate, which helps to put a sense of distance between them. Mix different tile colours together to separate the areas between the sink and toilet. This bespoke cloakroom is small and simple but feels much bigger, thanks to the two clearly defined zones.   For a truly unique small bathroom designed and installed by our in-house team; especially for your individual requirements, contact us or visit our showrooms in London. Steam showers, deep soaking tubs, and aromatherapy systems are essential for those seeking ultimate relaxation. A home spa experience, complete with mood lighting and high-tech features, is transforming bathrooms into places for unwinding after a busy day. Smart Technology Integration Innovation meets luxury with smart technology in the bathroom. From voice-activated lighting and touchless faucets to heated smart toilets, the bathroom is becoming a space where comfort and convenience go hand in hand. These technologies not only enhance the experience but also improve energy efficiency, making your bathroom more sustainable. Nature-inspired Design  Organic materials such as wood, stone, and natural stone tiles are a must for those looking to bring warmth and tranquility into their bathrooms. These materials, combined with earthy tones and lush greenery, create a serene atmosphere reminiscent of a high-end wellness retreat. These elements create sleek, clutter-free spaces that exude modern sophistication, while also offering practical benefits in terms of easy maintenance. How to make a small bathroom look bigger with tiles

How To Make A Small Bathroom Look Bigger With Tiles Small bathrooms are very common in the UK, particularly in London and surrounding areas! Space is a premium for many homes and the bathroom is typically one of the smallest rooms in the house. Many of us have experienced the stress of decorating or furnishing small rooms with awkward spacing. A common issue we hear from clients is they often don’t know where to start for a small bathroom design. Fortunately, team Kallums are experts at working with small spaces and designing luxurious small bathrooms. We can transform even the smallest of rooms into an exquisite, stylish space. Plus, we know all the tips and tricks to make your bathroom feel and appear visually larger than it is. Here our dedicated bathroom experts share their wealth of knowledge on how to make your small bathroom look bigger with tiles. What size tile for small bathroom? Tiles can make or break any bathroom design. Choosing bathroom tiles is no easy task, particularly when dealing with small spaces. There are many different ways to utilise tiles to make a room appear larger, such as playing with colour and reflectivity. However, it might come as a surprise that the size of a tile is one of the best ways to create the illusion of depth and breadth. One of the easiest and most effective options are large format tiles as they cover a larger surface area and result in fewer grout lines. Plus, if you use large format tiles on the walls and floor you will achieve a flowing seamless design. They are a great option to make your room feel more spacious and appear bigger. Top tip – If possible, match your grout to the colour of your tile to further exaggerate the feeling of space! That doesn’t mean that small bathroom tiles are completely out of the question. It’s true you need to be more careful with smaller tiles, due to increased number of grout lines that can produce an almost grid like appearance which can encourage the feeling of being enclosed. However, if you use both small and larger tiles it helps avoid creating a grid like appearance. We suggest using small tiles on smaller surface areas and larger tiles everywhere else. By using two different types of tiles, especially if they have different surface textures, the result can be a stylish contrast that adds some much-needed depth. Tiles to make small bathroom look bigger Our talented bathroom designers have complied their favourite small bathroom tile ideas that will result in a luxurious style bathroom that promotes the feeling of space and serenity. Monochrome Magic It is generally accepted that white bathroom tiles are great to brighten up any space. However, if used in excess it can result in the room feeling cold and rather plain – but it can be a different story if paired with black bathroom tiles! You can create some monochrome magic by using black and white bathroom tiles together. A monochrome look offers a chic contrast and depth while promoting the feeling of space. Fancy something a bit more luxurious? Opt for black and white marble tiles to create the feeling of elegance and grander proportions. Create a feature wall One of our favourite small bathroom tile ideas is a feature wall! This is one of the best opportunities to use small bathroom tiles and go bold with colour. It can really help pull a bathroom décor scheme together as well as drawing eyes to that area of the room. Patterned tiles continue to be extremely popular and can make a stunning feature wall. Another great option are wood effect tiles, which can add some much-needed warmth and depth to your small space. You might be wondering where a feature wall would be best located – we suggest the wall around the shower or bath. . Stylish Patterned Floor As mentioned already, patterned tiles are very popular and it’s easy to see why. When you find a pattern you love it can be tempting to use this everywhere! We advise against this. Instead, consider using patterned tiles exclusively on the floor to create a real statement and really bring your small space to life. When paired with neutral toned walls, the result is a stunning small bathroom design that will look luxurious in years to come. Get Glossy We mentioned earlier that there are many ways to utilise tiles to make a room appear larger, one of which was reflectivity. Gloss tiles reflect light which enhances the feeling of space, particularly when natural light is being bounced around the room. A glossy metro tile (or subway tile) can be a great option, as long as it’s not being used to cover the entire bathroom. Consider natural toned gloss tiles to keep that spacious feel or add a pop of colour to a feature wall with a bright pastel tone.
