The Kallums contracts team created a modern, stylish shower room – which is one of three bathrooms from this project. Our bathroom experts were commissioned by Green County Developments to provide bathroom design services and supply all products. The result is a stunning shower room with a luxury aesthetic and seamless functionality, with a design theme that flows with the rest of the bathrooms from this incredible project. This beautiful shower room is a perfect example of a how a small space can be transformed into something luxurious and serves as a great source for small bathroom ideas.
Brief: A young couple refurbishing their first family home required three complete bathroom renovations. The clients initial design vision included pairing luxurious materials with marble, contemporary brushed gold taps to create a deluxe showering area. For this space, they wanted a lavish bathroom ideal for a relaxing, tranquil showering experience. Plus, it had to be consistent with the design of the other two bathrooms in this project. Green County Developments needed us to create inspirational bathrooms designed completely from the ground up.
Due to its smaller size, one of the main challenges with this shower room refurbishment was creating a luxurious showering area that wouldn’t feel constricted. After experimenting with several different possible layouts, we managed to find one that made the most of every inch of space. Plus, we decided to create a wet room shower which offered a more seamless and spacious feel. Therefore, maximising its design potential to create a truly relaxing space for the client.
We opted for two different types of tiles that offered a stylish contrast, whilst helping to break up and balance the space. Large format tiles are ideal for smaller spaces due to the minimal grout lines required, which in turn maximises natural pattern without breaks and helps make a room appear larger. Therefore, we chose large format white marble tiles from Stone & Ceramic Warehouse. This was then paired with dark blue textured herringbone tiles from Villeroy & Boch, which added depth. These tiles were also used in all three bathrooms for this project for complete design consistency.
To compliment the white marble tiles, we opted for a stylish basin with an integrated vanity unit from IdeaGroup in a luxe matt white finish. Despite its compact design which is great for small bathrooms, it provides optimal storage space. When then chose a matt white wall-mounted toilet from Flaminia. The white ceramics were mounted on the wall with the dark blue herringbone tiles, which created a pleasing contrast whilst still providing a harmonious balance with the white marble tiles.
Part of our client’s initial design vision was pairing luxurious materials with marble. Therefore, we chose luxurious brushed brass taps from Just Taps for the basin and shower. The brushed brass tap perfectly complements the matt white ceramics whilst adding a dash of bold colour. Consistency and small details were incredibly important for this project. So, we also chose bathroom accessories, heated towel rail, and a toilet flush plate in the same brushed brass finish.
The most important area of this bathroom was of course, the shower. It was pivotal to create a space that would offer a relaxing, tranquil yet invigorating shower. We decided to create a wet room shower for a sleek, seamless design and keeping the marble pattern flowing throughout. This was achieved with a wet room system from Wetroom Materials. To keep the rest of the room dry, we opted for a chic shower panel from The Shower Lab – also in the same brushed brass finish for consistency with all brassware and fittings.
Creating an ambient, relaxing tone for this shower room was pivotal. Plus, lighting is crucial to help smaller spaces appear larger. To achieve this, we created a feature backlit ceiling along the vanity wall. As well as soft halo LED lights across the ceiling. We also created a stylish shower niche shelf with LED strip lighting to further enhance the ambience and for extra storage.
